About larry Killip

Larry Killip is many things, Musician/Artist/Producer/Sound Designer/Songwriter… he resides in Auckland New Zealand working from his professionally appointed home based studio. A stalwart of the Auckland music/recording scene Larry has an extensive background playing live and recording other acts plus his own original music, (currently four albums to his credit – search iTunes!)

Larry’s music for advertising can be heard nightly on New Zealand television, many of these jingles/tracks have long since been firmly embedded into the New Zealand psyche  with such well known examples as “Briscoes”, 100% Electric Stores, Harvey’s Furnishings, NZ Pork, Gotta Get A Garage (Skyline), Kings Plant Barn etc to name a few. On Auckland radio Larry lays claim to one of the longest running jingles currently on air, Giltrap City Toyota was written and produced in 1987 and is still going strong.

Among the many strings to his bow Larry has vast experience in working with audio to pictures, be it music production or post sound sweetening. Having started in 1980 as a sound mixer for Video Workshop, (a small video production company back then) Larry has held these particular skills in his grasp from day one. Virtually every week either on TV One or Sky Larry’s work is on display,  the theme and incidental music on Geoff Thomas’s “Outdoors with Geoff”, or post audio mixes on many of TV One’s motorsport programs, also SKYTV.

As a music artist Larry has gone from vinyl releases in the 1970’s to online downloads on the like of iTunes, from the infamous 1973 “Studio One Volume Two Hits” album to number one on “Indie Pop picks Cashbox Magazine charts” February 2008. You can listen to a montage of tracks from Larry’s new album  “Never Going Back

When an occasional respite from all things audio and music is called for, Larry retreats to the garage and his 1962 classic Jaguar Mark2 car taking time out for a tinker or a polish!
